Introduction

Ravi Mehra was doing something completely different, dropping out than the usual 18-year-old, who is also getting ready for college admission exams or enjoying the campus life. annoyance at a system of education that appeared to disappoint the millions of pupils in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. At just 22, Ravi is currently the CEO of UdaanLearn, an EdTech platform valued at ₹25 crore that was created especially to provide students from smaller areas with easily accessible, reasonably priced, and useful learning materials.

From Frustration to Foundation

Ravi was from Bhopal and was always a talented, dedicated student. But after Class 12, he started to struggle seriously. After enrolling in a prominent engineering college in Delhi, he discovered that the curriculum, instructors, and even fellow students assumed a level of exposure that he had never had. His distance from his urban contemporaries was further exacerbated by expensive coaching, a lack of mentorship, and English courses. He took the risk as he felt excluded. His academic career didn’t conclude with that dropout, it was the beginning of something which was actually his purpose.

The Birth of UdaanLearn

Ravi began instructing younger pupils in his community after returning to his hometown. Word got around fast. His instruction struck many students as understandable and sympathetic, particularly those from Hindi-medium backgrounds. He started using a whiteboard and a used phone to record brief, simple concept videos for YouTube. His channel reached 100,000 subscribers in just six months. Ravi became aware of the true possibilities at that point. In 2021, Ravi established UdaanLearn, a comprehensive EdTech platform targeted at state board students in non-metropolitan areas, with the help of retired school teachers and a ₹2 lakh grant from a local startup accelerator.

Built for Bharat, Not Just India

The majority of EdTech concentrated on worldwide curricula or CBSE/ICSE, but UdaanLearn set itself apart by supplying state board syllabus with regional language content facilitating live consultations with  mentors to address questions. The objective was to provide high-quality education for the students of India who are frequently not recognised and given their rights.

Scaling with Impact

UdaanLearn has touched more than 5 lakh students in 12 states in just two years. Their 3G-optimized, lightweight app gained a lot of popularity during the pandemic. Parents valued the affordable, locally relevant schooling alternative that didn’t make their kids feel “too foreign.” An impact-focused venture capital fund gave Ravi a ₹5 crore seed round in 2023. In order to provide digital learning solutions in government schools, the platform quickly teamed with a number of state governments. Ravi’s clarity of purpose, rather than his financial acumen, is what makes him unique. Every hiring strategy, technological advancement, and content choice is made with rural learners in mind.

Recognition and Road Ahead

Since then, Ravi has been published in national newspapers, invited to speak at conferences on education, and included in Forbes India 30 Under 30. He is still grounded, though. When a girl from Jharkhand passes her board exams or a student from Chhattisgarh passes NEET, it’s our greatest accomplishment. UdaanLearn is on target to reach Tier-4 towns and even tribal regions with new initiatives like mentorship programs, parent-facing dashboards, and skill-based micro-courses.

Conclusion

The idea that you need a degree or you need to be from a privileged background to create something significant is outdated by Ravi Mehra’s narrative. Usually to overcome what you once endured, all you need is wisdom, compassion, and the want to achieve it.
