From Mumbai Kitchens to Global Plates: The House of Biryan Story

In the world of food-tech, some stories begin not in boardrooms but in kitchens filled with aroma, passion and ambition. One such story is that of House of Biryan (HoB), a young cloud kitchen brand founded in 2022 by chefs Mohammed Bhol and Mikhail Shahani.

Recently, HoB made headlines by raising ₹32 crore ($3.6 million) in a funding round. The round was led by MS Dhoni and Bestvantage Investments, with participation from experienced investors across global firms. For a startup that’s just three years old, this milestone is truly remarkable.

From Two Chefs’ Dream to Millions of Plates Served

What started as a vision between two chefs has quickly become a food-tech success story. House of Biryan began with a simple yet bold idea: serve authentic biryani alongside global favorites like pizza, sushi and burgers; all from a cloud kitchen model.

The experiment worked. In a short time, the brand has already served 2.8 million customers and fulfilled 4.9 million orders. Today, it operates 22 kitchens across Mumbai, Delhi and even Dubai, marking its first international presence.

The Backing That Matters

Funding announcements are common in the startup world, but what makes this one special is the name leading it: MS Dhoni. The cricketing legend’s trust in HoB not only boosts its visibility but also confirms its vision.

Speaking about the partnership, investors highlighted HoB’s ability to blend consistent quality with scale, something many cloud kitchens struggle with. Alongside Dhoni, Bestvantage Investments and other strategic backers provide both capital and credibility to fuel the next stage of growth.

The Road Ahead

With this new funding, House of Biryan has ambitious plans. The startup is eyeing Tier-I cities across India and preparing to expand globally, aiming to open 120 to 150 outlets in the next three years.

Financially, the company is already showing strength, with a ₹50 crore annual run rate and positive EBITDA performance in its core markets. The founders now aim to grow revenues to ₹450 to 550 crore annually.

Why House of Biryan Stands Out

A Fusion of Tradition and Trend: While biryani remains the heart of the brand, HoB’s menu also caters to modern cravings like sushi and pizza.

  • Cloud Kitchen Efficiency: The model ensures quick expansion without heavy infrastructure costs.
  • Customer Love: Millions of satisfied customers are proof that the concept is working.
  • Credible Backing: With Dhoni and top-tier investors on board, HoB now enjoys the trust of both markets and customers.

Final Bite

House of Biryan’s journey is more than a startup success; it’s a story of food, passion and big dreams. From the kitchens of Mumbai to the streets of Dubai and soon, perhaps, to cities worldwide, HoB is proving that great ideas can indeed travel far.

As they say in the food world, consistency is everything. With fresh funding and a clear vision, House of Biryan is on its way to becoming not just a brand, but a global flavor phenomenon.
