Shivam Maurya, a 24-year old young man hailing from Surat built India’s First AI-Powered Driverless Superbike. The model first featured in a video on his YouTube channel Creative Science. The video soon went viral. His video not only share the final product but also the whole process that encourages others to learn and experiment.

Shivam was born in Uttar Pradesh, but his family later moved to Surat in search of better opportunities. He says that growing up he was “A curious kid who wanted to make things easier”. At 15 years old, while commuting to school, he kept struggling up a steep overbridge. But he decided to change this because he didn’t want to keep doing the same struggle everyday. So he used his pocket money and bought small motor and few parts, and turned his bicycle, electric in his first experiment.
He says, “Right from 9th class, I had decided to do something that’ll make the cycle run on its own”. Moreover, he didn’t want to depend on his parents financially. So his YouTube channel and social media gave him the freedom to fund his own projects. However, his parents weren’t sure if YouTube could ever pay but that changed the day his first payment of Rs. 48,000 arrived.
He started reinvesting everything into new tools and projects. His urge to building and experimenting developed much earlier when he chose to go for a Diploma as it would provide him experience of more practical work. Later, he enrolled himself in B.Tech.
Since he didn’t have access to any professional workshop to work his way through new ideas, he set up a makeshift workshop in Surat. The road to this successful bike was not an easy one. Shivam, too, faced a lot of hurdles in the form of failures of several experiments. As innovators do, he too, takes them in a positive way. He says, “They were stepping stones that pushed me to think harder and innovate smarter”.

His latest Hubless bike seems to be something straight out of fiction, but has now been turned to reality. Some of its key features are:-
- Three operating modes: normal riding, phone-controlled riding, and fully autonomous Driverless mode.
- Advanced sensors that detect obstacles up to 12 feet away and automatically stop if something comes within 3 feet.
- Live rider display connected to cameras, giving real-time visuals of the bike’s surroundings.
- Battery range of 200-220 km in eco mode and around 160 km in sport mode.
- Smart integrations like GPS navigation, wireless charging, calling, and even social media notifications.
- Futuristic design with hollow wheels and a lightweight yet sturdy build.
The video of this innovative bike went viral and lot many people, including startups, universities, and even production houses showed interest but Shivam is clear about his priorities. He said, “My focus is not to build a company, but to build curiosity”.
