Shyam Sankar, an Indian born from humble beginnings is now elevated to a billionaire status despite being a non-founder. From operating a souvenir shop, and later a dry-cleaning business in Orlando, his family faced several challenges including filing for bankruptcy. However, despite all the obstacles he did not compromise on his education.
Having a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornwell University and Master’s degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, he chose to join the Xoom Corp startup over a consulting job, which prepared him for his future at Palantir.
He is now the Chief of Technology Officer in Palantir Technologies. His net-worth stands at approximately 1.3 billion USD, the milestone making him the fifth billionaire associated with the company.
He has been employed ever since 2006, and his career is only just getting started.
